The ACTivists project is part of the Missouri History Museum exhibition #1 in Civil Rights: The African American Freedom Struggle in Saint Louis." The ACTivists populate the exhibition as an integral part of the experience. The project combines museum theatre, participation, and dialogue to illuminate the struggle for African American freedom in Saint Louis from 1819 through the present day, giving visitors a new way to engage with multiple perspectives and with a rich history that is largely unrecognized. Participants will spend 45 minutes in the gallery, viewing and participating in performances and actor/interpreter-led dialogue. The final 45 minutes will be spent debriefing the experience, discussing challenges, successes, and evaluation."
