Gateways to Understanding: Listening to and Engaging Diverse Audiences in a City of Confluence
Akif Cogo is the founder and president of St. Louis Bosnians, Inc., an organization working with, and on behalf of, the Bosnian-American community with the aim of fostering a better understanding of Bosnians in congruence with other communities in the St. Louis region, through advocacy, education, humanitarian relief and cultural programs. He was born in Bosnia and Herzegovina in 1983, and moved to the United States after briefly living in Germany in 2001. Akif holds a bachelor of arts in history, and a master of political science in public policy. He serves as a board member at The Civic League of St. Louis, and as a board member of the Bosnian-American Public Affairs Alliance of Missouri. He works at Saint Louis University as an assistant director in the Facilities Department.
