Description
Many passionate museum employees find it challenging to fulfill their potential in a field that can be low paying and difficult to navigate. Join the creative minds behind The Engaging Educator, MuseumProv, and Museum Hack for this lively session exploring alternative paths through the museum field. Facilitators will share there own journeys in developing their unique companies, which not only empower themselves, but also offer valuable services that benefit museums and visitors.

  1. Participants will learn about the benefits and challenges inherent in creating your own business, and learn tools and tips for getting started.

Bio
Chelsea Hogan is a Museum Education Specialist, an Improviser, and Founder of MuseumProv. She holds a Masters in Teaching Museum Education from the George Washington University and a Bachelors in Art History from Ithaca College. Chelsea is the inaugural Educator at ESMoA, a unique, cutting edge "Art Laboratory" in El Segundo, CA. She is passionate about connecting people through Improv and innovative object-based programming in museums.

ETHAN ANGELICA is Tour Guide + VIP Partnerships for Museum Hack. He oversees Museum Hack Audience Development wing, working with museums worldwide to reimagine adult experience in their spaces. Ethan has developed internal training methodologies for Museum Hack's own expansions, and has consulted on Museum Hack's engagement strategies and audience development techniques with such institutions as the California Academy of Sciences, Colby College Museum of Art, the National Museums of Norway and Te Papa in New Zealand.

JEN BROWN (OLENICZAK) is the Founder and Artistic Director of The Engaging Educator. Through EE, her pedagogical approach of Improv as Continuing Education has reached thousands of people with the awesomeness that is Improv. Jen has given two TEDx Talks on the power of Improv, grown EE to three locations in NYC, Winston-Salem, NC and LA, and recently began The Engaging Educator Foundation, a 501(c)(3) which offers free and low cost Improv workshops. She loves to collaborate with museums on the creation of socialization programs.
