As non-collecting institutions, both the Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis (CAM) and the Pulitzer Arts Foundation reflect unique positions within the field, raising critical questions about shifting models of the American "kunsthalle." What are their roles? How do they operate? What defines them? Representatives from each institution will offer perspectives, including Alex C. Elmestad, director of learning and engagement at CAM; Kristin Fleischmann Brewer, director of public projects and engagement at the Pulitzer; and Tamara H. Schenkenberg, associate curator at the Pulitzer. Attendees will also have the opportunity to view exhibitions and experience the world-renowned architecture of Tadao Ando at the Pulitzer and Brad Cloepfil at CAM.
